KANSAS CITY SHARES THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS WITH DIASPORA COMMUNITIES

BY NENA PODBURY - AMERICAN BIBLE SOCIETY

Over the past 25 years, the foreign-born population in Kansas City has grown more than 300 percent. It is to this community of nearly 135,000 immigrants that The Sending Project feels called to serve and share the hope of God’s Word.
And they need your prayers to reach these precious ones that are often neglected by society.

Working Together to Share God’s Word

The Sending Project is a citywide network of pastors, church leaders, ministry leaders, marketplace leaders, and others working together for the purpose of getting the good news of Jesus to Kansas City.

This year, to provide spiritual support and care to the diaspora in the Kansas City metro area, they are launching a gospel outreach ministry called End-to-End. End-to-End, which was co-developed by American Bible Society, is impacting lives in over 50 nations around the world. In 2020, End-to-End reached 2.1 million people with the good news of Jesus Christ. And now we are praying that immigrants in Kansas City will be strengthened and comforted as they hear the promises in Scripture.

How Does End-to-End Ministry Work?

End-to-End is a proven process to fulfill the great commission. And in diaspora communities where many have left their homes in search of a better life, it provides an opportunity for them to learn about a supportive and loving God.

End-to-End entails four steps which include: watching a gospel film, listening to the New Testament, receiving their own copy of God’s Word to read and study daily, and being invited to join a local church. Through this process, participants can experience the transformative power of the gospel and the encouraging power of community.

Nothing brings hope like God’s Word. That’s why The Sending Project and American Bible Society are partnering to share this hope with a people who need to know how much God loves them and that he is with them on this journey of rebuilding their lives.

But we need your prayers.

How You Can Pray

As the Sending Project is in the initial stages of launching End-to-End, we invite you to pray for the following:

  • Pray for 20 churches in Kansas City to join this city-wide effort to deploy End-to-End ministry for diaspora populations
  • Pray that training on the End-to-End model will go well for all participating churches and ministries
  • Pray that many lives will be transformed through the power of God’s Word and that immigrants will find a place of belonging within the local church.
