HE GETS US

He Gets Us. All of Us.

How did the world’s greatest love story become a hate crime?

He Gets Us is a campaign designed to create cultural change in the way people think about Jesus and his relevance in our lives. Have you seen the ads? There’ve been over 180M views, so probably, you have, but just in case, watch this one about a man who wanted to throw a party…

It’s time for people to meet the “real Jesus,” the radical Jesus of the Bible—the one who loves the “unloveable” and understands our human frailties because he experienced them all. He Gets Us will be historical, the most extensive Christian ad campaign ever, and the one generating the most connections to the local church, over 32,000, with a new one every 3 minutes.

Here’s the interesting thing: more people are exploring life and faith than there are Christians are willing to connect with them.

For years in the church, you’ve heard people lament that the world’s quit listening, that people have turned away from God, and that the younger generation isn’t interested in spiritual things. Maybe we didn’t discover the right medium until now.

Who does the culture trust? Try Siri, Alexa, Google Play, YouTube, and, in short, they trust their phone.

When Gloo started experimenting by responding to the most common word searches with Google ads in July of 2021, they immediately learned that people are searching spiritually in the digital world. Thousands of digital explorers later, it’s no longer a theory but reality.

Augustine had it right centuries ago when he wrote, “man is restless until he finds his rest in Thee.”

He Gets Us ads portray a place to connect the humanity of Jesus with the angst of the human soul. Jesus was born to a teenage Mom. Jesus was an immigrant. Jesus was canceled by the religious right. Jesus was betrayed–so He gets us.

You can see the ads on YouTube but ask yourself why you would look before you go there. Are you curious? Are you going to critique? Are you going to use them for your church or social media?

Don’t miss the reason the ads were created. They are not for the churched—for you or me. Instead, they target the searching, even those who are skeptical. The hope is to make them think, to ask questions.

The ads offer the hegetsus.com website and, with it, choices like: would you like to chat? There is a 24/7 chat line available. Would you like to learn more? There is well-written copy about Jesus and the opportunity to go on a Youversion Bible reading journey. Or you can click that you want to talk to someone about life.

The third is where you come in. Gloo is looking for churches that are willing to reach back when digital explorers reach out. In Kansas City, over 3,000 people were connected to believers willing to offer hope and life in Jesus. Over 50 churches in KC are actively engaging digital explorers.

Will you go after the lost sheep?
When they reach out, will you reach back?
