Bedik Munik 2
The Bedik/Munik people are a traditional hunter-gatherer society primarily located in east-central Senegal, but small groups exist in other regions of the country and West Africa. Young girls are richly adorned with pearled plaits in their hair, multi-pierced ears, and five bracelets on each wrist. The girl can decide whether she wants to marry her suitor, and if agreed, the bridegroom provides the dowry to the girl’s family. Elders are highly respected in this community and given first priority. Their primary religion is animistic and they build altars of small stones where sacrifices and prayers occur.

The Recording Project

New Testament text is available on the Digital Bible Platform, but usage has been minimal for the Bedik/Munik people have an oral culture and a low literacy rate. Providing the Gospel in an audio format will expose this small and scattered people to the Word of God and help revive a language and community that is slowly drifting toward extinction.
