Joan Flye will update us on We Love Kids ministry.

          

Joan Flye has a Catholic upbringing, born again experience as a teenager, involvement in the Jesus People movement, work with Youth with a Mission (YWAM), ministry among Vietnamese refugees in Vietnam,  then worked as a missionary in Vietnam among the Vietnamese as well among the Haroi, Stieng, and various ethnic minorities teaching and writing children’s curriculum materials. She is currently involved in aiding children in Vietnam and Cambodia to receive an education as a means of preventing human trafficking

Andrea Sears will with share us about the Give Dignity ministry.

 
Andrea Sears is the International Director of give DIGNITY, a ministry in the largest immigrant squatter settlement in Central America. Andrea and her husband, Seth, founded the ministry in 2012. Their mission is to bring dignity and empowerment to the marginalized, through life change and redeemed relationships via Christ-centered holistic development initiatives that support employment, education, and violence prevention in the community. In 2022, Seth and Andrea relocated to NW Arkansas, delegating daily operations on the ground to a team of local leaders. In addition to continuing to direct the ministry, Andrea teaches at John Brown University as an adjunct professor for Bible, ministry, and missions courses.

Andrea emailed me the following: What’s been on my heart this week: I’ve been reading John Mark Comer’s Practicing the Way. Here’s a great quote about not letting ourselves off the hook in our expectations for discipleship: “If you are an apprentice of Jesus, your end goal is to grow and mature into the kind of person who can say and do all the things Jesus said and did.”  Too often, we say, “well, Jesus was God…” to excuse ourselves for not being able to live up to the standard that He set for us. But he said in John 14:12, “I assure you that whoever believes in me will do the works that I do. They will do even greater works than these because I am going to the Father.”  Doesn’t sound like Jesus had low expectations for us, or fears that our sinful nature was stronger than the Holy Spirit of God to transform us!
