Brian is a graduate of Mid America Nazarene University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Agribusiness.  He has been in the Therapeutic Riding industry since 2001, and became both a NARHA Certified Riding Instructor and an EAGALA Certified Equine Specialist in 2006.  Brian also completed the O.K. Corral Series Green Training in 2008 and also various other trainings at Strides for Success in Indianapolis.

He and his wife, Joy, answered God’s call to found New Horizon Ranch in 2006.  Brian left his position of 21 years at College Church of Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas to take the Executive Director position with NHR in 2010.  He has served on committees with PATHiIntl and on the Board for the Franklin Co Sheriffs Foundation.  He and Joy have two children, Sara (21) married Caleb Powell in 2024 and Stetson (15) is a sophomore and runs Cross Country and plays Baseball.  In his free time he enjoys riding horses, golfing and fly fishing with family.

Proverbs 3 5-6 is definitely my life verse.

Also God has challenged us to move “Forward in Faith” to complete phase 2 of the indoor arena at NHR.

He also served as a chaplain to the Grandview, MO Police and Fire Departments.

In 2016, the Lord started to shift Zack’s attention toward the next generation. He became his church’s liaison to public schools through the Caring for Kids Network. As he began to see the dire needs within the schools, he rallied volunteers and resources to serve those needs. Ten years later, youth ministry has become his primary focus.

Zack and his wife, Holli, recently celebrated 25 years of marriage and are the proud parents of five children. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Zack is passionate about ice hockey and can often be found at the rink, coaching his sons’ teams.

Minding the Gap works to bridge both academic and emotional gaps in the lives of children by teaching reading skills, building self-esteem, and promoting healthy connections to caring adults. Each week, our volunteers mentor and tutor children, host after-school Bible clubs, and encourage teachers, so that children become better readers today and discover hope for tomorrow. Currently, we serve over 700 students across four schools. For more information on the Minding the Gap click on mindinggaps.org

The Lord has been speaking to Zack about the Last Judgment as described in Matthew 25:31-46.  In this passage, the Lord clearly outlines the criteria by which every person will be judged.  Keeping this scripture at the forefront of our minds helps us continually reorient our lives, ensuring they align with what truly matters to God.
