Jake Barreth will update us on GO (Global Orphan) Project.
Inline imageJake spent his childhood in England and Wales (15 years) before moving to Miami where he spent the next 11 years working various corporate jobs.  Jake felt a strong call to ministry while working for a large real estate developer in Miami and subsequently left his corporate career to join a church plant.  Jake joined the GO Project team in 2011 to oversee operations in Haiti where he lived for the following 2-years before moving to Kansas City.  Jake continues to serve local churches through his work at GO Project where he serves as President and COO.  Jake is husband to Melody, father to Owen and Ezra and is an active foster parent.

GO Project is a local church empowerment ministry that seeks to break the orphan cycle by stabilizing families before breakdown occurs.  We achieve this through our three Preventative Platforms: GOEX, CarePortal and Strong Family.   Each platform attacks family breakdown through the local church in unique and highly effective ways.  Currently, GO Project serves over 5,000 churches in 10 countries and provides over 800 living wage jobs in the developing world to families who need it most.  Collectively, this family of initiatives serves over 200,000 children per year through the local church.

Jake emailed me the following: My God thing… being a foster parent is a continual process of surrender.  This journey into opening my family has helped me grow in my dependence on our heavenly father and reframed how I view the mission of God’s people.

Alex Matthew will updates us on Youth Front Pathways .
Inline imageWillie and I are looking forward to joining you all via Zoom on October 17th. I hope the following bio meets your requirements. I have also attached a picture of Willie and I with a few of our volunteers inside a local juvenile detention center and a handout about Youthfront Pathways.

Alex Mathew serves as the Director of Youthfront Pathways, overseeing teen parent and juvenile justice programs that were formerly part of Youth For Christ USA. Alex and his team hosted their first Bible study in a juvenile detention center over 12 years ago with just one volunteer. Today, Youthfront Pathways serves 240 teens with over 30 volunteers and four staff members across five ministry sites.

In 2019, Alex’s wife, Andrea, launched our teen parenting program. This initiative was created in response to countless prayer requests for assistance from young fathers and mothers within the juvenile justice system. Both Alex and Andrea serve in full-time ministry at Youthfront. They live in the urban core of Kansas City, KS, with their three sons, Ezra (16), Axel (12), and Cyrus (10).

Willie Johnson III, our Arise Juvenile Justice Coordinator, served as a volunteer for four years before joining our staff. Willie coordinates our teams of volunteers to lead ministry at juvenile detention centers across the city. Willie’s wife, Selita, serves as a volunteer alongside him, leading Bible studies with him one to two times per week.

Alex emailed me the following: The Scripture that has been close to my heart recently is: “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities” (Luke 16:10 NLT).
