Eric Rochester will update us on The Sending Project ministry.
Inline imageEric Rochester is the Founder, President, and Executive Director of The Sending Project, a nonprofit ministry organization based in the KC area, which exists to mobilize and unite Christian churches and the overall Christian community in a common effort to fulfill the Great Commission and reduce physical, emotional, and spiritual poverty in the world.

The Sending Project began in 2009 and, over the years, has networked with more than 300 KC- area churches and more than 200 KC- area ministries. Currently, The Sending Project’s key ministry priorities include: Connection Revolution, Scripture Saturation, Celebration of the Nations, and Trauma Healing.

Under the banner of Connection Revolution, Eric hosts a bi-weekly podcast featuring various leaders from the Body of Christ, building awareness about their ministries and encouraging Kingdom connections. The Connection Revolution ministry also includes several citywide missional networks and other connection ministry efforts. The strategy is this: better Kingdom connection among Jesus followers results in greater advancement of Jesus’ revolutionary truth and love.

Eric enthusiastically reflects: “The Lord brought together a convergence of several key themes to form and continue to shape my ministry calling: missional and cross-cultural ministry, unity building, ministry partnerships, Kingdom networking, God’s Word, God’s heart for the nations, and the citywide Body of Christ working together well.”

Before launching The Sending Project, Eric served at the executive leadership level in the local church context and the nonprofit ministry context for nearly two decades. In total, he has served at the executive leadership level in the church or para-church context for the past 34 years.

Eric is a big sports fan, especially KC- area sports: including the Chiefs and the Royals…and, at the risk of creating division…the nearby Kansas Jayhawks. Eric is quick to emphasize that our unity in Jesus transcends sports rivalries!

Eric and his wife, Marcia, live in the KC area, and their blended family includes four adult children and their spouses, plus nine grandchildren. To God be the glory!

Eric emailed me the following: The Lord has recently been reminding me of His great heart for the nations. Psalm 67 is one powerful passage among many, many, many others in the Bible that relate to this. Psalm 67 is an amazing prayer to the Lord, asking that His saving power be known “among all nations.”

Here are the first three verses of Psalm 67:

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!

Dennis Solis will share with us about Christians United for Racial Justice (CURJ) ministry.

Since restarting CrossPoint Community Church in the late 1990’s, Dennis Solis has been casting God’s vision and leading CrossPoint on the journey toward becoming a crossing point where diverse people unite to become devoted Christ followers. Pastor Dennis is a clear voice for racial righteousness and social justice as being a true reflection of the love of Christ, both outside and inside the Church (Matthew 22: 37-40). Leading by example, he has implemented programs and established events in Kansas City promoting the well-being of children, youth and families, as well as racial reconciliation, through community support and collaboration.

Pastor Solis was instrumental in starting CURJ  (Christians United for Racial Justice).  CURJ is a collaboration of Believers from various churches & organizations who love and follow Jesus and believe God has called the Body of Christ to live in unity and use its prophetic voice to nurture true justice in a multicultural, pluralistic society. As Christ’s Ambassadors it is our essential witness to model and work for justice to the glory God.

Dennis holds a Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary and taught graduate level courses on Urban Ministry.  He has served as a pastor in the Church for 40 years.  He and his wife Sherri have been married for 46 years. They have two adult children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and 5 grandchildren.

Dennis Solis can be reached at dennis-crosspoint@msn.com.
