Chris Meikel will update us on Bott Radio ministry.
Chris send me the following bio:
I began working at Bott Radio Network in July 2023. Rich Bott asked me to be the Manager of Community Engagement for Kansas City. My role also includes hosting an interview program called “Special Encounter” that airs each Wednesday and Friday at 2:00 pm Central. And I am asked to do voice work, recording commercials and promos, for our stations in Kansas City and around the country.
My radio career has spanned 40+ years. After graduating from Washburn University in Topeka, I landed my first radio job in Leavenworth, Kansas at KCLO-AM. I also returned to school and completed my Masters Degree in Communications at University of Missouri-Kansas City.
I got my first opportunity to work in Kansas City around 1987 at KZZC-FM, the former ZZ99. I’ve also worked in Kansas City at KLTY (106.5), Q104, KFKF (94.1) and now Bott Radio Network. I left Kansas City to take a job in St. Joseph, Missouri at a secular radio station in 1990.
Jesus Christ came into my life in 1994 and it wasn’t long after that I secured my first job in Christian radio at KGNM in St. Joseph. Eventually I became the General Manager/Managing Partner in that Christian station and a Classic Hits station in St. Joe before selling those in 2020.
Following the sale of the stations, I was out of radio for a few years, working at City Union Mission, involved in donor relations, raising funds and helping with marketing campaigns before finding my way to Bott Radio Network.
My wife, Star, and I now live in Basehor, Kansas. My three children and two grandchildren still live in St. Joseph, Missouri. We attend First Baptist Church in Basehor.
