Rev. Dr. Sam Stephens’ bio:
Rev. Dr. Samuel D. Stephens is a pastor, author, speaker, and President of the India Gospel League (IGL), one of India’s largest indigenous mission movements. A graduate of Madras Christian College and Union Biblical Seminary, he also holds a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and Global Perspectives from George Fox University.
Beginning ministry as a village pastor, Dr. Stephens assumed leadership of IGL in 1988 and has since guided a remarkable movement that has seen the planting of thousands of churches across India. He is widely recognized for championing a holistic Gospel that combines evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, healthcare, education, and community transformation.
He is the founder of several initiatives, including the Sharon Cancer Centre and General Hospital, Sharon Palliative Care Centre, and Jeevan Sahaya Nidhi, a microfinance program serving rural women. Dr. Stephens also founded the Non-Denominational Association of Interdependent Churches (NAIC) and has served in senior leadership roles within the global YMCA movement.
Dr. Stephens and his wife, Prati, reside in Salem, South India.
