Since 2014 Freedom Hoops has equipped volunteers to reach and disciple young men in Kansas City. Michael works alongside his wife and two other full time staff. \nTheir ten year goal is to see 100 disciples making disciples. I’ve been serving the Lord in a full-time ministry context for 46 years in the KC metro area\, serving in executive-level leadership roles in the parachurch or church for 36 years. In addition to my Executive Director role with The Sending Project\, I am also blessed to serve as Director of Advancement with Kansas Christian College. \nI started The Sending Project\, a nonprofit ministry organization\, which is based in the KC area\, about 17 years ago. Through The Sending Project (TSP)\, which is focused on connecting and mobilizing the citywide Body of Christ to live as sent ones locally and globally\, we’ve networked with more than 430 churches\, more than 300 ministries\, and many businesses. \nThe Sending Project has four key ministry areas: Connection Revolution (Connections & Mobilization)\, Scripture Saturation\, Trauma Healing\, and Celebration of the Nations. During this October 2 Mission Mobilizers Zoom Meeting\, I’ll be focusing most of my presentation time talking about the Celebration of the Nations ministry and the Grand Event which will be on November 7 this year. More than 70 nations of KC-area Jesus followers are expected to be represented at this year’s Grand Event! \nI’m a big sports fan\, especially KC-area sports: including the Chiefs and the Royals…and\, at the risk of creating division…the nearby Kansas Jayhawks. I am quick to emphasize that our unity in Jesus transcends sports rivalries! My wife\, Marcia\, and I live in the KC area\, and our blended family includes four adult children and their spouses\, plus nine grandchildren. To God be the glory! \nA Scripture that the Lord has been illuminating to me recently is Matthew 6:33-34\, where Jesus said: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness\, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow\, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.
