SUMMARY:Trauma Healing Initial Equipping Session\, Starting on August 14
DESCRIPTION:KC Bible-Based Trauma Healing Initial Equipping Session\nConnecting the Citywide Body of Christ around Jesus and His mission to heal wounded hearts   \nPurpose of this Initial Equipping Session\nTo train participants to become facilitators in the American Bible Society’s Trauma Healing Institute Ministry using the curriculum\, Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How the Church Can Help. \nAbout this Initial Equipping Session\nParticipants learn basic biblical and mental health principles related to trauma care. They will also: \n\nexplore if they themselves are carrying any wounds of trauma or loss and bring those to Christ for healing\nlearn how to lead groups in a participatory way\nlearn the program model\ndevelop plans for using what they learn in their ministries\, organizations\, and community\n\nTrauma healing facilitators aim to “do no harm” to those they help. To this end\, participants are evaluated during this equipping session. A simple test measures mastery of content. A short practice facilitation exercise includes feedback on facilitator strengths and suggestions to address areas needing improvement. \nWho Should Attend?\nThis training is open to laypeople and ministry/church leaders\, including but not limited to mental health professionals\, social justice advocates\, NGO workers\, and various others. The necessary qualifications are as follows: \n\nable to communicate in English\nhave sufficient status to teach others in a community\nable to attend the entire training\nbe at least 18 years old\ncommitted to help trauma survivors\nable to co-facilitate two trauma healing groups each year\n\nThis Initial Equipping Session is followed by a practicum in which apprentices co-facilitate the core lessons at least two times. The training process is completed with an Advanced Equipping session. \n  \n \nWhy Trauma Healing?\nTrauma knows no boundaries of nationality\, gender\, age\, social class\, or race. We all live in a fallen world and groan inwardly from the painful consequences of the Fall. Trauma can create a barrier to people engaging with Scripture and creates a barrier to God\, community\, and self. People who have experienced trauma may read the Bible or hear scripture spoken\, but yet the messages they so desperately need may not get into their hearts due to trauma. A Bible-based response to trauma and the Church being equipped to provide it can bring forth much fruit. The Church is uniquely called to this mission field of trauma healing. \n  \nDATES/TIMES \nFriday\, August 14: 12:30pm-1:00pm Check-in\nFriday\, August 14: 1:00pm-9:00pm\nSaturday\, August 15: 8:30am-5:30pm\nFriday\, August 21: 5:00pm-9:00pm\nSaturday\, August 22: 8:30am-4:00pm \nLOCATION \nVictory Hills Church of the Nazarene\n6200 Parallel Parkway\nKansas City\, KS 66102 \nEVENT PARTICIPATION FEE \n$175 per person \nIn addition to the training\, the following will be provided for each participant: four meals\, snacks\, drinks\, a book\, and a packet of trauma healing materials. \nREGISTRATION DEADLINE \nAugust 10\, 2026 \n  \n \nThis Initial Equipping session is limited to 36 people.   \nTo save your spot\, please register as soon as possible. \nPayment is accepted in the form of check\, cash\, or credit card. Credit card payment is done at the time of online registration. Checks or cash payments must arrive at The Sending Project office\, located at the Hope Chapel Olathe Campus (12480 S Black Bob\, Olathe\, KS\, 66062) no later than August 10\, 2026\, to reserve your spot.  \n  \nREGISTER\nFor more information contact Mark Davis at 913-206-6835 or mark.davis@thesendingproject.org \nWhat Trauma Healing Participants Are Saying \n\n“I recommend Trauma Healing groups of the Trauma Healing Institute because it changed my Life…” (Kansas City pastor)\n“This training is training that everybody on the planet needs.” (Pastor Keith Williams from the video\, “Unchained”)\n“I have laid all actions and feelings of resentment\, which I have been slowed down by\, at the cross.
