SUMMARY:Trauma Healing Initial Equipping Session\, Starting on September 5
DESCRIPTION:KC Bible-Based Trauma Healing Initial Equipping Session\nConnecting the Citywide Body of Christ around Jesus and His mission to heal wounded hearts   \nPurpose of this Initial Equipping Session\nTo train participants to become facilitators in the American Bible Society’s Trauma Healing Institute Ministry using the curriculum\, Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How the Church Can Help. \nAbout this Initial Equipping Session\nParticipants learn basic biblical and mental health principles related to trauma care. They will also: \n\nexplore if they themselves are carrying any wounds of trauma or loss and bring those to Christ for healing\nlearn how to lead groups in a participatory way\nlearn the program model\ndevelop plans for using what they learn in their ministries\, organizations\, and community\n\nTrauma healing facilitators aim to “do no harm” to those they help. To this end\, participants are evaluated during this equipping session. A simple test measures mastery of content. A short practice facilitation exercise includes feedback on facilitator strengths and suggestions to address areas needing improvement. \n  \nSome of the topics addressed in this Initial Equipping Session \n\nIf God loves us why do we suffer?\nWhat is a wound of the heart?\nWhat can help our heart wounds heal?\nWhat happens when someone is grieving?\nBringing our pain to the cross\nHow can we forgive others?\nLooking back and looking forward\nCaring for the caregiver\nOrganizing healing groups\nParticipatory learning\nManaging group dynamics\n\n  \nWho Should Attend?\nThis training is open to laypeople and ministry/church leaders\, including but not limited to mental health professionals\, social justice advocates\, NGO workers\, and various others. The training process is completed with an Advanced Equipping session. \n  \n \nWhy Trauma Healing?\nTrauma knows no boundaries of nationality\, gender\, age\, social class\, or race. We all live in a fallen world and groan inwardly from the painful consequences of the Fall. Trauma can create a barrier to people engaging with Scripture and creates a barrier to God\, community\, and self. People who have experienced trauma may read the Bible or hear scripture spoken\, but yet the messages they so desperately need may not get into their hearts due to trauma. A Bible-based response to trauma and the Church being equipped to provide it can bring forth much fruit. The Church is uniquely called to this mission field of trauma healing. \n\nFACILITATORS\n\nGINA HOUSTON\n  \n \n  \nPastor Gina is the visionary leader of Ecclesia Equipping Center—a Kingdom strategist committed to advancing God’s purposes in both the church and the community.
