HIM Has Lots of PALS – Get to Know Heartland International Ministries and Their Global Mission Impact

Since its inception, The Sending Project has had a strategic priority on God’s heart for the nations in Kansas City and around the world! Much of this has been expressed through ministry partnerships with great organizations and churches. Global mission continues to be a key priority for The Sending Project, and the Platinum Sponsor for our 2022 Making Waves of HOPE Banquets, Heartland International Ministries (HIM), is a robust global mission ministry we encourage you to learn more about and get connected with. Read on to learn more about HIM, which is based right here in the KC metro area.

HIM has Partner and Leader Servants (PALS) in various countries around the globe. These PALS are HIM’s “…missionaries in other countries. These people are in places that need guidance, leadership, and love. Each PAL devotes their lives to serving Christ through orphanages, youth ministry, conferences, Bible studies, church-planting, and other types of ministry. Some are risking their lives, all are sacrificing, in the name of Jesus.” HIM provides training and equipping for indigenous pastors, leaders, and other follower of Jesus through various formats, and many times they also provide Bibles, literature, and other materials.

HIM’s Founder, Fred Kornis, now serves as HIM’s Minister-At-Large. Fred started HIM in 2001. Now, after many years of ministry led by Fred, 180,000 people in 15 different countries have been impacted, and HIM has more than 30 PALS around the globe in India, Nicaragua, Zambia, Philippines, Croatia, Pakistan, and the USA.

In March 2018, Byron Whetstone became the Executive Director of Heartland International Ministries, and he is on a mission preparing and leading HIM into its next season of ministry. As Byron and team are building upon the strong ministry results and amazing ministry heritage of Fred Kornis’ leadership, the future looks bright for this great ministry organization!

You can get involved with Heartland International Ministries by being a volunteer and/or a donor. Your investment of time, energy and/or finances with HIM will make a difference and transform lives for God’s glory! 

The primary objective Byron has is to continue the legacy initiatives of HIM in places like India, Philippines, Nicaragua, Africa, and so many others.  Byron comments on this primary objective: “Doing so, means being committed with additional financial resources and additional support. The indigenous people we have served historically are more desperate and in need than ever before. My hope is that we can raise the awareness of the ministry with our PALS (Partner and Leader Servants) by being a major source of influence for Christ to the global ministry we embrace. A favorite verse of mine is in Acts 13:36, which says “…for after David had served his generation according to the will of God, he died ….”   That is my hope and prayer and I hope you will agree, that we each have been given great gifts and to use them to support God’s believers around the world is a worthwhile purpose for my life.”
