Hannah Anderson, Jackie Slot, Ashley Arledge, and Nyla Handy
Hannah Anderson began her training in her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri at Dramatic Truth School of the Arts. After graduating, she had the honor of dancing as a company member with Störling Dance Theatre, Open Sky Arts Collective and Ad Deum Dance Company. Her favorite performance experience of her career so far is being chosen to be one of the five women in the 2016 premiere of Dianne McIntyre’s “When We Come To It.”
Over the past 12 years, Hannah has traveled around the country to set work on both student and professional companies. Her favorite aspect of choreography is drawing inspiration from the dancers to create something that both they and the audience enjoy! In 2017, Hannah launched her own business selling non-toxic home essentials to financially supplement her work as an artist and to challenge herself to grow in new ways. She has found that being an entrepreneur has matured her artistry, as well as practically helping to support the art form she loves.
Jackie Slot Is currently a full time RVer with her husband Mike and their giant fur baby Jake. Living small and the freedom it gives to travel are just two of the many things that make her feel truly alive. Jackie used to live by the demands of society’s modern lifestyle leaving her exhausted, burned out, and still never feeling like she had done or was enough. The resulting stress affected her sleep quality and impacted the foods she would crave. Then, poor diet choices would lead to a weak immune system and finally illnesses. Jackie says “I know now what we consider normal lifestyle today isn’t healthy. I know we each are capable of experiencing a fuller, more vibrant life. I know we can live this life actually feeling good. Feeling alive. I also know the road to our healthiest self is hard. Sometimes it’s not a clear path either. I simply want to offer support and come alongside others on their journey. I want to empower them to keep taking step after step, even the hard ones, until they discover their healthiest most alive self. “
Jackie has a Bachelors of Science in Photography from Grand Valley State University and is a Certified Personal Trainer through National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM). She holds NASM’s Certified Exercise Specialist and FNS certifications. She is currently enrolled as a student at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition with projected graduation date of March 2021.
Ashley Arledge was born and raised in Grandview, MO. Ashley was raised by a single mother and both maternal grandparents, Ashley was surrounded by love, encouragement, education, and passion. She played sports up until high school where she found her love for the arts in the form of dance and made the life changing decision to pursue professional dance.
At 16 years old, Ashley received a scholarship to The Centre of Danced. She was mentored under the tutelage of Tyrone Aiken director of Alvin Ailey. After studying for 3 years, she suffered a debilitating knee injury. After revaluation of her path to professional dance, she decided to create a company that not only allowed her to dance, but that also incorporated her other artistic gifts and her love of God. Ashley founded the non-profit organization Just As You Are Legacy (J.A.Y.A. Legacy) which focuses on transforming lives through the arts with stage productions, workshops, museum exhibits, master classes, and world tours. At the very core of J.A.Y.A. Legacy and the team is the belief that love is the answer to our personal development growth. For the past year Ashley has focused on creating a platform, Love Is My Currency, that explores different topics of love while in conversation with her friends and family. She has purposed her life to continue being a student of love with the goal of a servant to help others do the same.
Nyla Handy began to dress herself at the age of five. She refused help from anyone who tried to dress her, even her mother-who knew her daughter would be in the fashion industry at a very young age. Since childhood, Handy has always confidently walked with great stature regardless of what life threw her way. Little Nyla knew what she wanted to be when she grew older and didn’t allow anyone to stand in her way from achieving what she set her mind to.
Today, Nyla Handy is a multifaceted woman. In 2012, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design and Product Development from the prestigious women’s institute, Stephens College, Columbia, MO. Handy is not only a national award-winning fashion designer (Founder/Owner of NYLA Couture), but she also finds passion in fashioning the interior of women as a published author. Her brand has grown to empower women of all ages. Handy authentically impacts crowds through her love for creative arts, performing arts and language arts.
