It was a tremendous blessing to meet Kwan Porter about two years ago. He is a part of the amazing staff team at LifeMission Church, which has multiple campuses here in the KC metro area. Kwan is a part of a collaborative ministry effort in Kansas City, Kansas (KCK), which features a special event that is happening this Saturday, August 20. The Sending Project is blessed to be partnering with American Bible Society to implement a highly effective ministry in the KC metro area called End-to-End. Millions have been reached around the world through Bible outreach and engagement ministry, and KC is blessed to be the first city in the United States to launch the End-to-End ministry. For more info about End-to-End, contact Sending Project staff member, Mark Davis, at mark.davis@thesendingproject.org or go to endtoend.bible. Kwan was gracious to allow me to interview him regarding this compelling movement of God that is happening in KCK. I believe you will very blessed as you read this blog post and hear Kwan’s heart for Jesus and ministry collaboration among the Body of Christ. – Eric Rochester, Executive Director at The Sending Project
Here’s the interview:
Eric: Hey Kwan, thanks for taking the time to tell us a bit about this amazing event that is going to happening this Saturday, August 20, at 6pm, at Adrion Roberson Field, 9th and Parallel, in Kansas City, Kansas. First, before we talk about this event, please share a little about your context with this collaborative ministry venture, and what it has been like for you to connect with these other pastors for this missional gathering.
Kwan: This has been one of the greatest blessings to me as I’ve transitioned into my new role as a Campus Pastor in KCK. The Lord has connected me to some incredible like minded followers of Jesus who have been serving in KCK for years. These wonderful people immediately embraced me and welcomed me into the city for such a time as this! I thank God for them and the connections God made.
Eric: You are blessing, man…and the KC metro area is so blessed to have you as one of the pastors of the citywide Church of Kansas City! It’s so cool how you are connecting with this collective effort even though you have only been ministering in the Kansas City, Kansas, area for a short time so far. Now, this August 20 event is being catalyzed and ignited by the KC End-to-End ministry that is being facilitated by The Sending Project in partnership with American Bible Society, but I love how you and the other pastors who are spearheading this event have put your own contextualized stamp on it. Please tell us about what this event is going to be like.
Kwan: We have been so encouraged by the overwhelming sense of God’s presence upon this event. As we were meeting to plan, the Holy Spirit brought about a very clear purpose; to glorify Jesus and invite people to encounter His presence. What developed was a night of worship and prayer under the stars. We simply desire to make space for Him to move. We will also serve the community with practical needs by having a free dinner together and blessing children with backpacks and school supplies. We will also have prayer stations for people to receive individual prayer!
Eric: Amen! Wow, this is going to be a really special gathering. May the Lord bless it abundantly! To wrap up our interview, please share a little about what has surprised you about the process during these weeks leading up to the event and also please share about what you hope and expect to happen as a result of it.
Kwan: I’d say more incredibly blessed than surprised. The reason is because God had impressed upon my heart that He would connect me to others in KCK who are already moving to see His Kingdom come and His will be done in KCK! It’s another reminder about His faithfulness and our ability to trust and rest in Him. I know that because He is faithful this event will be blessed. I expect to see people come to life in Jesus, miraculous healings as we pray, and the presence of God moving to bring peace, hope, joy, and love to and through His people. I’m honored to have been a part of the process.
Eric: Fantastic! Thank you so much, Kwan. Those of you reading this blog post are invited to attend this event and you are also invited to pray for this event! (See the flyer below for more info about this August 20 event.) God is moving in KCK and this is another great step in that journey. Please pray for many to put their faith and trust in Jesus during this event, and pray for the pastors, church leaders, and ministry leaders in this part of the KC metro area as they unite and work together as One Church to bring glory to God and advance His Kingdom!
